Every year the exhibition “Salon de Mobile” in Milan becomes the focus of global interest as not only is it the most exciting and innovative design exhibition of the year but through it the trends around the world are determined. The “Athenian Epilogram” could not be absent from such an event.
Brothers Michalis and George Giakoumakis are present every year at this exhibition and return back to the city of Heraklion along with all the innovations around design and giving us the opportunity to integrate them in our space.
Elements such as ceramics play a dominant role in the exhibition that is being held this year, as we can see in the photos that follow, while as far as wood is concerned, we find walnut and oak with an emphasis on detail.
In terms of textures and fabrics we find for another year velvet and natural materials such as linen, cotton and silk. Intense colors have their honor as well as special combinations of bright colors giving a really impressive result. As can be seen in the photos that follow, there is furniture with special details and intense character.
Ceramic materials, which are found in many exhibits, as materials have a strong naturalness and when used indoors can give a sense of luxury and timelessness. Having as a main guide the luxury and the quality, the ceramics combined with other natural materials and with velvety textures help to make our space look familiar and warm.
An entire city celebrates and honors design
Every year during the exhibition “Salon de Mobile” the whole city of Milan lives and breathes to the rhythms of design. Events take place throughout the city and give a special pulse. Characteristic are the events that take place in various areas of Milan which create a completely festive atmosphere around the design and architecture.
One of the most impressive exhibits in the city of Milan is a giant armchair which, inspired by the feminine curves, strongly resembles a female body and is displayed in the famous central square of Milan Piazza del Duomo, right in front of its most famous cathedral city.
This armchair was created in 1969 by Gaetano Pesce and initially accompanied by a ball of the same material and a chain was intended to give the image of a prisoner and to reflect the prejudices that exist for women on the part of men by discussing so does female emancipation.
50 years later, the Gaetano Pesce chair continues to be relevant, bringing the debate on violence against women to the surface again. Located in Piazza del Duomo, 40 arrows have been placed on the armchair as part of the exhibition, which seem to pierce a woman’s body, and even the light pink color used refers to that of the skin.
